Power FM makes line-up changes

Gauteng based commercial talk radio station, POWER 98.7 has announced changes to its on air line-up effective Monday 29 February 2016. The station is entering its third year of operation and has grown into a key player in the South African radio landscape. The changes are informed by audience needs in a fast changing and competitive radio industry.

The key changes include the move of Lawrence Tlhabane from POWER PERSPECTIVE (weekdays 21h00 to midnight) to POWER BREAKFAST (weekdays 06h00 – 09h00). Thlabane will partner with well-renowned broadcaster Ayanda-Allie Paine. Current POWER BREAKFAST host Tim Modise will move on to focus on his business interests and community development work, amongst others, through Soweto TV.

Iman Rappetti will continue presenting POWER TALK (weekdays 09h00 – 12h00) followed by Jeremy Maggs (weekdays 12h00 – 13h00). Aphelele Somi who currently presents POWER WEEKENDS (Friday and Saturday 18h00 – 21h00) will be the new presenter of POWER LUNCH currently presented by Thabiso Sikwane. Hajra Omar jee who is currently co-host of POWER DRIVE (weekdays 15h00 – 17h00) with Thabiso Tema will no longer co-present the show as she moves to focus on her role as the station’s Political Editor.

Andile Khumalo, host of POWER BUSINESS (Weekdays17H00), Victor Kgomoeswana host of POWER HOUR(weekdays 18h00) and Masechaba Ndlovu host of POWER LIFE (weekdays 19h00 – 21h00) will continue in their current shows. POWER PERSPECTIVE (weekdays 21h00 – 00h00) currently presented by Lawrence Tlhabane, will see the introduction of a new voice on the station, author and commentator Onkgopotse JJ Tabane.

According to POWER987 Managing Director Andile Khumalo, the station has established a distinctive positioning in the marketplace and the changes are in line with its quest for continuous improvement of its on-air product. Khumalo concluded “We look forward to welcoming the new voices to the station and remain grateful to all the talent that have contributed to the growth of the station to date”.
